CONTACTS

Currently, I am getting quite a number of questions from CISA aspirants on the tips for passing the CISA Exam. This is the reason why I decided to write this article.

Below are the tips that assisted me to pass my exam, they may be useful to you as well.

Happy readership!

1.     I first joined ISACA as a professional member http:www.isaca.org/membership

NB: there are 3 categories of membership (Professional, Recent Graduate and Student Member) Also note that you can pursue your CISA Certification without being a Member. Membership and Certification are two different things.

2.     Joined the ISACA Community Groups on ISACA Engage. These communities include: 1. Audit & Assurance, 2. CISA Exam Prep, SheLeadsTech, etc. For more information, follow this link https://engage.isaca.org/communities/allcommunities

3.     Downloaded journals from ISACA Website and other study resources https://next.isaca.org/knowledge-and-insights/isaca-journal

4.     Read the CISA Review Job Practice Manual

NB: The CISA® Review Manual is updated to keep pace with rapid changes in the information systems (IS) audit, control, and security professions. As with previous manuals, the 27th edition is the result of contributions from many qualified authorities who have generously volunteered their time and expertise. An international job practice analysis is conducted periodically to maintain the validity of the CISA certification program. A new job practice forms the basis of the CISA. The complete CISA job practice is available at www.isaca.org/cisajobpractice

5.     Practiced Self-assessment Online CISA Review Questions, Answers & Explanations Database daily i.e. I attempted 30 Questions from each Domain to make 150 Questions per day.

NB: The CISA Review Questions, Answers & Explanations Manual 12th Edition consists of 1,000 multiple-choice study questions, answers, and explanations arranged in the domains of the current CISA job practice. With this study aid, CISA candidates can quickly identify their strengths and weaknesses by taking random sample exams of varying lengths and breaking the results down by domain. Sample exams also can be chosen by Domain, allowing for concentrated study, one domain at a time, and other sorting features such as the omission of previously correctly answered questions are available.

6.     I also watched Hemang Doshi’s CISA Study videos from YouTube.

7.     Attended a CISA Review Course for 6 months (Evening Classes) from Strathmore University -This is an accredited training institution. Speaking about this, I can’t forget to thank my awesome CISA Facilitators and Classmates whose names I will not mention because I didn’t seek their consent prior to writing this article, they were very resourceful and knowledgeable.

Alternatively: Dependent on your schedule, you may consider enrolling for CISA Online Review Course as a substitute for classroom-based learning.

Everyone has their own way of studying but Remember: Preparation is Key

Last thoughts:

Understanding the material in the CISA Review Manual and Q&A Database is one measurement of a candidate’s knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses, and an indication of areas where the additional or focused study is needed. However, written material is not a substitute for experience. CISA exam questions will test the candidate’s practical application of this knowledge. Although every effort is made to address the majority of information that candidates are expected to know, not all examination Questions are necessarily covered in the manual, and candidates will need to rely on professional experience and professional judgment to provide the best answer during the EXAM.

TIP: When selecting your answers to the question presented, respond solely based on the information provided in the particular step and assume the mindset of an average auditor in that situation. Try not to reflect on your previous experiences with similar situations
